2004 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Herman is a 2005 grad from Hilltop High School in Chula Vista California and has an extra large frame at 6'3" 215 pounds. Herman is physically mature with good strength throughout. His strength transfers well to his offensive play. He hits out of a wide base at the plate with some good bat speed and makes hard, crisp contact. Herman has the ability to hit to both gaps well and will turn on a good fastball. On defense he shows you very good pure arm strength with pop times at 2.15. His pop times should improve with better foot quickness. Herman handled the pitchers well, had good hands and took charge in the game when behind the plate. For a big catcher, He ran very well in the 60 and with his arm strength could undoubtedly play other positions well.
