2005 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Allen Ward is a 2006 MIF/3B with a 5'9'', 175 lb. frame from Pace FL, who attends Pace HS. He has a strong present build, with compact strength that shows his work ethic. He shows very good quickness in the middle of the field and gets to lots of balls. His hands are soft and quick and he did an especially good job of starting and turning double plays from both sides of the bag. Ward probably profiles best at second base but he has some arm strength and can fill in at shortstop at the next level as well. Ward's best tools are with the bat though. He has a very quick bat with good bat speed and surprising pop for his size. Ward has a line drive swing and attacks the ball hard and drives it to all fields. He does a good job of waiting back on pitches and staying balanced. Ward hit a bomb home run to left field during a showcase game, which reminded us of the blast he hit at the South Showcase in Waco, Texas, during the summer. The young man has performed big time in the showcase games we've seen him in. We love his approach to the game; he plays hard and competes to win. Ward is a good student who should develop into a very good player at the Division I level. His coaches will love him. Good follow.
