Billy (Trey) Brown is a 2008 RHP with a 6'2'', 195 lb. frame from Lake Charles, LA who attends Barbe HS. He has a nice pitcher's frame with long limbs and some present strength. Brown has a high energy delivery with a consistent fast pace to it and aggressively attacks hitters. He may have to tone down his delivery a bit in the future to fine tune his command but it works for him now. Brown has a very quick arm and a high 3/4 to over the top release point. His fastball topped out at 91 mph and had very good run and sink to it at times. Brown's breaking ball was a 76 mph slurve type slider that he wrapped in back but had good sharpness at the plate. We saw Brown later in the summer throw 6 innings in a game and his slider was harder and sharper with better mechanics and was a plus pitch that day. Brown showed good feel for his change up and it should be a good pitch for him in the future. Brown has the pitches and the athletic ability to keep improving in the future. He is also a good student.
