Hunter Bacot is a 2008 RHP/OF with a 6'2'', 175 lb. frame from Cary, NC who attends The Miller School (Charlottesville, Va). He has a strong, well developed lower half and a slimmer upper half. Bacot has a quick arm and a short, abbreviated delivery. He never gets his hips anywhere close to being closed and his arm has to rush to catch up. The effect is very deceptive and hitters didn't see the ball at all and took some pretty bad swings at the ball when Bacot was throwing hard. But those mechanics are hard on the arm and Bacot lost velocity quickly. He threw up to 86 mph but quickly dropped into the low 80's and below. The arm strength/quickness is definitely there for Bacot to throw both harder and hard consistently if he were to make some fundamental adjustments to his delivery. Bacot threw almost exclusively fastballs; he tried a couple of sliders early but they didn't have much spin. He's a follow because of his raw arm strength right now. He is a good student off the field.
