Grant Helms is a 2027 1B/RHP/OF with a 6-0 150 lb. frame from Harrisburg, NC who attends Hickory Ridge. Nice young athletic build, projects very well physically, notably stronger than when we saw him earlier in the spring. Right handed hitter, hits from a straight stance with a high leg raise load and a low hand start, lots of moving parts to his swing but they come together well and he repeated his timing consistently, turns his core very well to drive his swing and fires his hands hard, good present bat speed with more to come, gap to gap hard line drive contact. 7.87 runner in the sixty. Primary first baseman on defense, has very nice defensive actions there, fields the ball confidently and cleanly with good footwork, should have the athleticism and tools to play third base as well. Also worked out in the outfield but profiles as a corner infielder. Took a turn on the mound, works from the stretch from the third base side of the rubber, works down the mound well and repeats his mechanics, high 3/4's arm action. Fastball worked in the mid-70's with nice life, does a good job of shaping his curveball and landing it for strikes. Also threw a decent change up. Good overall athlete who is improving in all areas. Very good student. Named to the 13U/14U Sunshine Atlantic Coast Showcase Top Prospect List.
