Declan Gonge is a 2027 C/RHP, 3B with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Lincoln, CA who attends Whitney. Features medium sized, durable build. A primary catcher with athleticism and mobility behind the plate. Showed smooth, explosive quick transfers and excellent footwork. The arm is developing but accurate with some zip behind it. At the plate, Gonge starts in a wider, open stance uses a small leg kick trigger. Generates power from his lower half. Squared up the baseball consistently in his BP round. On the mound, Gonge features a 2-pitch mix (FB, CB) and a deliberate windup out of a 3/4 arm slot. Shows good hip coil at the top and hides the ball well adding to the the deception in the delivery. The arm works well and is a consistent strike thrower. Was able to establish his fastball for strikes early in the count and land his breaking ball for strikes inducing a number of ground balls; a solid pairing. Good student.
