2006 PG Pitcher/Catcher Indoor-Feb 11-12
Drew Luedtke is a 2006 LHP/1B with a 6'2'', 240 lb. frame from Cary, IL, who attends Cary Grove HS. He has a stout, strong build with relatively short arms and legs. Luedtke has a full delivery with a full arm circle and some effort at release. He hides the ball well in back and hitters look like they have a hard time picking up the ball from his delivery. Leudtke's velocity was very consistent at 82-83 mph with very nice sinking action that should produce lots of ground balls. His 68 mph curveball was also very consistent in it's spin and bite and was a quality pitch for him. He gets good 2 plane break on the pitch and it has some sharpness. Luedtke also threw a few 73 mph change ups with cutting action. His change action indicates that he's a candidate to develop a slider in the future if he would want to. Luedktke's present stuff is solid and his command and the life on his pitches very good. He can take the next step up in his development as a pitcher with better conditioning. He has a talent to be a mid-80's left hander with all the secondary pitches and good command. Good follow. Luedtke is also a good student.
