Ethan Covello is a 2023 C/1B/OF with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Durham, CT who attends Coginchaug Regional. Medium frame with strong current build. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.91 seconds. Primary position C, working from a good, deep setup and well balanced in his movements. Well refined lower half mechanics, creating good direction and energy through his throws. Gains ground well and throws with aggression. Emerging arm strength generating throws up to 71 mph with a pop time best 2.22 seconds. Glove work is sound, presenting good target for pitchers and gives umpires a solid look. RHH staring with a high hand set and using a big leg lift trigger to stride. Active hands leading to quality bat speed, getting square to the ball at impact. Barrel control will improve with time, but has natural loft and best bolts were to the pull side. Performed very well in game action, blocking pitches in the dirt with ease and collecting extra base hits with plus bat speed. Real appreciation for his skills in live action. Very good student as well.
