2023 New York Indoor Showcase (Sunday)
Daniel Head is a 2026 SS/RHP with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from Hubbardsville, NY who attends Brookfield Central. Medium, leaner frame with a high waist and plenty of room to add strength. Primary shortstop, sound glove, nifty lateral range, impressive footwork, recorded arm strength up to 78 mph across the diamond. On the mound, the right-hander started his windup from the middle of the rubber, the leg lifts to the belt, hands also lift to the front of the face then break into a full, slightly offline arm path that leads to a high three-quarters arm angle, works downhill and accelerates the arm well. He pounded the strike zone with his mix as his fastball showed promising intent. The heater showed decent spin, crowding right-handed hitters, topping at 82 mph. Changeup deadened spin particularly well, sat in the low-seventies. Slider showed spin up to 2033 rpm, peaked at 69 mph. Right-handed hitter, came out in an upright stance, high hand-set, toe tap trigger, lofted stroke, some whip to the barrel, several fly balls to all parts of the field. Recorded an exit velocity of 84 mph. Squared up a fastball in a live at-bat, pulling it to the left-center field gap. Ran a 3.88 thirty-yard dash. Excellent student. Named to the New York Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
