Jathan Spain is a 2026 RHP/1B, OF with a 6-4 190 lb. frame from Cape Girardeau, MO who attends Cape Girardeau Central. Recorded a 7.22 sixty yard dash time. Tall frame with a physical build. Primary right-handed pitcher, works from a belt high leg lift with drop and dive mechanics and a high three- quarters arm slot. Clean arm action and big arm speed on the mound with feel for spin. Fastball showed arm side run. Featured a slider that was 84 and spun around 2500 RPM that has definite swing and miss upside. Flashed a change-up with some late drop to it and good velocity separation. Can work effectively up in the zone with the fastball, the slider is a swing and miss out-pitch and has feel for the change-up. Secondary first baseman, with developing hands and good footwork around the base. Smooth feeds and throws were accurate across with good flight. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wider base, utilizes a leg lift trigger into contact. Aggressive swing that takes the hands to the ball with lift in the swing and a pull-heavy approach. Rotates hard through contact with some strength in the hands through the zone. Added a solid hit up the middle in the game. Exciting young player with a high ceiling. Excellent student. Named to the 2023 National Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
