2023 14U Midwest All-State Games
Zachary Steichen is a 2027 OF/LHP with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Brookfield, WI who attends Brookfield East. He has a good frame with a thick, sturdy build and present strength. Ran the sixty yard dash in 7.86 seconds. Primary outfielder that attacks the ball and fields it with one hand out in front of his body. He transfers the ball cleanly and throws with a high effort motion. He showed the ability to generate nice carry through his target and kept this throws low. Secondary left-handed pitcher that works from the middle of the rubber and utilizes a knee to chest leg kick. He uses a shorter, in line arm action and fires from a 3/4 slot. He works in line with the plate and finishes out over his front foot. He has a controlled motion that is easily repeatable and makes it easy for him to fill up the zone. His fastball has cutting action as it enters the zone. His primary off speed pitch is a 1-7 curveball that has nice vertical drop. He also showed a changeup that has nice velocity difference from his fastball and showed good depth. Left-handed hitter that starts in an even base with high hands and a low back elbow. He uses a hover leg lift trigger for timing and does a nice job of shifting his weight into his swing. He has a quick swing with a slight uphill finish that allows him to lift the ball when he is on time and makes contact out in front of the plate. He showed the ability to impact the ball to the pull side of the field.
