Barrett Diaz is a 2026 SS/RHP, 2B, 3B with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Plainfield, IL who attends Joliet Catholic Academy. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.92 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, young actions at the ball with moving parts, lower slot on throws across the diamond with a higher back elbow, gets low at the ball and fields it out front. Also pitched, full windup on the mound, shows comfort in changing looks on the mound with leg kick to create deception; three-quarters release, fastball topped out at 79 mph and showed some life through the zone. Changes eye levels well, occasionally gets quick and rushes delivery; shows ability to miss bats, mixed a curveball with 11-5 shape up to 66 mph. Right-handed hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Can implement additional lower half rhythm into load, shows a handle for the barrel and creates extension through the point of contact. Has tools to build off of, ball comes off well when squared, consistent contact to pull side gap. Very good student. Named to 14u Main Event Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
