Ernie Whelan is a 2025 3B/RHP/C with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Issaquah, WA who attends Issaquah. Slender young build with lots of time and room to get stronger. Right handed hitter, hits from a crouched open stance with a deep hand load, shifts his lower half early and loses momentum and flow into his swing, some lift in his swing, upper body generated swing. 7.69 runner in the sixty. Primary third baseman on defense, showed some lower half quickness in his lateral movements, fields the ball cleanly out front, best moving to his left, developing arm strength with a clean release. Also caught, showed young actions behind the plate, made accurate throws when everything came together. Took a turn on the mound, gets into his lower half well to get down the mound, long off-line arm action in back with a high 3/4's arm slot. Fastball worked in the 72-74 mph range with good downhill plane. Still developing feel and consistency for his secondary pitches. Very good student.
