2022 PG Softball KC Scouting Combine - Fall
Ava Lay is a 2025 C/3B, OF from Derby, KS who attends Trinity Academy. Ava is a strong athlete that has the potential and capability to take her game to the next level. At our Kansas City showcase this past October, Ava not only showcased as a talented catcher, she also showed us her ability to lead on the field. Defensively, Ava does a great job moving behind the plate. She is a very smooth and athletic catcher who does a great job being quick and decisive with her movements. Her quickest pop time was a 1.91 from her feet and she continues to get better and better as the day went on. As she continues to work on shorting up her transfer she will continue to see that pop time get better and better. Offensively, Ava is a right handed stand In power hitter who does a great job taking her hands to the ball and generating really good barrel whip through the ball. She has very good foundation in her swing and does a great job producing power gap to gap. Not only does she swing for power, has the ability to change momentum with her speed on the base path. Her home to first time was a 2.91 and does a great job getting out of the box quick and efficiently. Overall Ava is a strong athlete who has the ability to play at the next level. I am very excited to continue to follow her career and where she takes her game.
