2021 Puerto Rico Workout Showcase
Chris Tavarez is a 2024 SS with a 6-1 143 lb. frame from Río Grande, PR who attends IBAHS. Tall height with slender hips and loads of projection remaining in the frame. Ran a 7.34 in the sixty yard dash. A primary shortstop, balanced and smooth footwork during the approach with good timing and body control. Works the hands late and quick, transferring with speed to the exchange. Accurate arm with developing strength. A right-handed hitter, starts balanced and slightly open with a higher hand set. Quiet load and uses the hands well to get the barrel to a quality contact position. Lots of hard liner contact to both gaps and the power should show as the body adds strength and matures. Excellent student.
