Tyce Thompson is a 2027 C/1B with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Winterville, NC who attends South Central. Solid well built frame especially for his class, athletic overall skill set with present physicality. Ran the 60 yard dash in a very good 7.05 seconds. Primary position C, with loose actions and sitting in nice and deep behind the dish. Initial stance is a bit offset, showing quick feet into transition as he gains ground on throws. Glove work was on point in games and kept the ball in front of him on blocks. Arm action is longish for the position but the arm strength is there as he built throws up to 76 mph on his pop-time best 2.01 seconds. Real prospect behind the dish. RHH with a good balanced setup, quiet load and solid handset at the shoulders. Strong hands that can really turn the barrel, on time regularly with loud, hard impact. Plenty of carry, especially to the pull side but was willing to stay in the middle of the field. Really showed out in game action, hitting deep towering HR at pro ballpark that cleared LCF wall with plenty to spare. Projectable offensive skills for a young player that looks the part behind the plate as well.
