Max Hemenway is a 2027 SS/RHP,/3B with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Puyallup, WA who attends Puyallup. An athletic build in a bigger frame. Projectable frame. Ran a 7.14 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop with really good tools up the middle on the dirt. He shows the glove early and had really clean footwork throughout his reps during the workout. Good bounce. He moved real well up the middle and took good angles with organized actions. Threw 85 mph across the diamond during workouts and carried the athleticism into games. Made a ton of plays defensively on the left side of the field showing off smooth hands and a clean funnel working through throws. Fluid mover at shortstop. He's a left-handed hitter with higher set hands and a high back elbow. He uses a bigger leg lift trigger creating some space and getting extended through the zone with bat speed to drive the ball. He turns it over nicely and was able to show off a loose swing with some lift present. He's on time and has a clean path to the ball. Was able to leverage the ball pull-side during his round of throws. Tons of consistency in his round with bat speed that impressed. Projectable actions in the box. Added a base knock in-game as well. Took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher with a leg lift up around the belt before working downhill. He had a clean arm stroke with a quick arm path through a three-quarters release. He repeats the delivery well with a fluid operation. The fastball worked 77-80 mph with good running life arm-side. He created some angle from the higher slot, locating well in the lower half of the zone. Missed a couple bats elevating the fastball up and in to right-handed hitters with the heater as well. Showed a slider up to 72 mph with high-tilt break and good depth to it. He induced whiffs with the pitch as his secondary. He mixed pitches well and produced a good outing. He threw 2.0 innings of scoreless ball, allowing just 1 hit, with 2 punchouts as well. Verbal commitment to Tennessee. Named to the 2023 14u Perfect Game Select Festival.
