Luke Smyers is a 2025 LHP/OF with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Henrico, VA who attends Godwin. Extra-large, square shouldered frame with a high waist and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary left-handed pitcher, abbreviated windup with slight drop and drive lower half mechanics, stays balanced and controlled down the mound, lands slightly closed with strike foot. Short arm action through the back working to a low three-quarters release point, creates nice angle at release and up to 84 mph with fastball, low effort release and worked to the bottom of the zone well once settled in. Able to induce weak ground ball contact; slider worked in low-70s with sweeping action, can continue to maintain arm speed on its release and shows best biting life when doing so. Flashed a changeup with some fading life up to 73 mph. Tracks the ball well in the outfield, deliberate tempo to actions, can implement additional lower half into release, longer arm action with similar release, showed some accuracy to the intended base. Left-handed hitter, begins with an even base and square stance, utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing, limited weight shift through lower half into contact. Stays short through the zone with stroke and shows strength with lift out front; shows ability to turn on the ball with some jump when squared. Big move into contact and occasionally gets to front side early, can use all fields. Very good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
