Walker Hooks is a 2024 LHP/1B with a 6-4 240 lb. frame from Brandon, MS who attends Brandon. Large, broad shouldered frame with present physical strength proportioned throughout frame. Left-handed pitcher, side step moving into a leg lift up to belt, works to an extended three-quarters release point and shows quickness through the backside. Worked to arm side with comfort, fastball topped out at 87 mph with lower spin and gets sinking life through the zone with 10+ inches of horizontal break. Changeup is a swing-and-miss offering up to 78 mph, extremely low spin rates with big time fading life, equally tough to batters of either handedness; mixes well and shows both a curveball and slider, curveball is better of two at present with depth to it up to 73 mph, slider more slurvey in shape through the zone from a similar slot. Accurate throws from a lower slot on throws across at first base, nice actions and repeats, clean on the turn and shows ability to change release points as needed. Left-handed hitter, begins with a spread stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; long swing path through the ozone, shows strength in hands and can impact the ball to pull side gap when on time and squared. Good student. Verbal commitment to Ole Miss.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
