Diego Diaz is a 2023 SS/RHP/IF with a 5-10 162 lb. frame from Pharr, TX who attends Sharyland. Medium frame with a lean athletic build. High level runner, ran a 6.48 at the WWBA Workout Showcase. Primary shortstop, very good mover on the dirt with easy range to both sides, smooth actions to and through the ball, good internal clock and arm plays from the left side, up to 87 on strong accurate and easy throws. Also pitches, good two-way potential, clean and athletic delivery with a loose easy arm, up to 87 with the fastball showing good life to the arm side at 2200+ RPMs, shows two breaking balls in curveball and slider, can get swing-and-miss now with the slider. Left-handed hitter, balance base and easy process, simple stroke with looseness to the wrists and good present bat speed, works the barrel out on time and accurately on a consistent basis, sprays both gaps with strength and really translates to game action, can adjust and handle a variety of arms, higher level feel.
