Mateo Serna is a 2023 C/1B with a 6-0 195 lb. frame from Doral, FL who attends American Heritage. Strong and physical catcher's build. Switch-hitter at the plate, hits from a bent knee stance from the left side, has an uphill swing plane with some lift and launch to it, better bat speed from the left side, was well timed from the left side in the games and squared the ball up hard a couple of times and showed his power. Hits from a wider base right handed with a more compact and shorter swing, pull side line drive contact, has the ability to continue to switch-hit at higher levels. 7/65 runner in the sixty. Has a compact arm action and quick release on his throws, repeats his throwing footwork well and makes accurate throws, 2.07 game on the bag to get a fast runner, receives the ball well. Mature player with strong fundamentals and plenty of physical strength. Good student.
