Hunter Atkins is a 2023 3B/SS with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Randleman, NC who attends Randleman. Medium frame with broad shoulders and present strength, showing athletic movements throughout. Ran the 60 yard dash in a solid 6.83 seconds. Primary position IF, working though the ball well and showing excellent overall feel for the position. Deliberate midline exchange with clean, smooth glove work. High level arm strength building throws up to 87 mph across the diamond with accuracy. Reps also in OF, working glove out front into compact arm path that got up to 88 mph back to infield. Quality all-around defender regardless of where you put him. Jumped on mound as well, using an athletic, quick paced delivery and repeated mechanics well. Simple belt high leg lift and breaks hands at the chest working into medium inline arm path. High 3/4 arm angle with low effort operation and filling up the strikes zone at a high level. FB was true, cruising in the upper-70's and then reached back for 83 mph once. Bigger, two-plane breaker in the mid-60's. RHH working with a high hand set and knee lift trigger to stride. Loads into his backside pre-pitch and uses direct path to ball. Real feel for the barrel, big time hand strength, launched balls gap to gap with ease. Projects plus power longterm. Lots of loud contact and maintained exit velocity to the oppo gap as well. Outstanding student, with a broad skill set and impact bat at next level.
