Miles Newsome is a 2023 SS/RHP with a 6-1 160 lb. frame from Chapel Hill, NC who attends C E Jordan. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 6.79 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, attacks the ball well with some quickness to feet, extra step working through the ball, fields the ball out front, takes shorter steps on the move, showed the ability to drop slot when needed on throws across the diamond with accuracy, will continue to refine moving forward. Right-handed hitter, begins with a narrow base and a high hand set and lower back elbow at the plate; short weight shift moving into contact through lower half. Loose hands in swing and works on a linear path through the zone, does a nice job of staying short to the ball. Will continue to develop with added strength, can work contact to all parts of the field, repeats swing and gets the barrel out front, occasionally gets to front side early. Excellent student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
