Jorge J Cartagena is a 2022 OF/RHP with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Carolina, PR who attends National Baseball Academy. Recorded a 7.05 second sixty-yard dash time. Larger, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Primary outfielder with good overall feel for the position, clean and athletic actions throughout the fielding process and arm strength that plays really well. Controlled approach into the process, fielding properly out in front and maintaining momentum into a bigger crow-hop. Recorded arm strength up to 87 mph with carry and accuracy in drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked exclusively from the stretch in this look, using his strong lower half well down the slope and displaying some riding life to the fastball. There is some effort through release, causing sporadic command throughout with some tendency to overthrow. Fastball worked in the mid-to-upper 70s for the most part, topping out at 78 mph. Showed much better command and life when not trying to overthrow and just letting everything work in-sync. Right-handed hitter that hits from an even based stance with an exaggerated high hand set and toe-tap trigger. Projectable power profile with strong hands, fluid body movements and easy power to the pull-side. Displayed consistent ability to impact the baseball with authority. Will continue to expand power potential with minor swing adjustments. Excellent Student. Verbally committed to Florida International University. Named to the 2020 National Underclass-Main Event Showcase Top Prospect List.
