Matthew Heyl is a 2023 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Clermont, FL who attends Montverde Academy. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, projectable frame with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.03 60-yard dash. Left-handed pitcher, high leg lift up past belt, full hand path in delivery, works to an extended three-quarters to lower three-quarters release, short stride coming down the mound, tends to open front side early in release. Fastball topped out at 86 mph, shows the ability to get to glove side with fastball, has arm speed coming through the back with extension out front, can continue to refine lower half mechanics. Similar release point on changeup up to 79 mph with short fading life, gets on the side of breaking ball at times and gives it slurve action through the zone up to 73 mph, shows short depth when on top of the ball. Very good student.
