Nickolas Gnardellis is a 2022 C/1B/3B with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Dix Hills, NY who attends Commack. Recorded a 5.27 second forty-yard dash time. Medium, slender frame with room to fill out. Primary catcher with a developing catch-and-throw skill set; receives from a wide, even stance with soft hands, fairly quick footwork out of the crouch and efficient, short mid-line transfers. Incorporates some present athleticism to gain ground towards his target, while working into a shorter, slightly wrapped arm action. Recorded arm strength up to 68 mph during drills, flashing some accuracy when in-sync. Right-handed hitter that hits from a narrow, slightly open stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and big leg lift trigger. Lofted stroke with heavy barrel, some feel for the barrel and the ability to create leverage out in front when on-time. Mostly middle-of-the field approach with the ability to turn the barrel on the inner-half. Displays fairly consistent bat-to-ball skills with occasional impact to the pull-side gap. Has some workable components to his swing and will expand upon those with additional strength. Developing defensive skills with good fundamentals, will continue to improve behind the plate with additional arm strength. Excellent Student.
