Derek Lopez is a 2023 C/RHP, UT with a 6-0 178 lb. frame from Windermere, FL who attends Olympia. Had some length to his frame with an athletic build. Ran a 6.60 60-yard dash. Projectable body. A primary catcher who uses a side saddle setup. Has a quick and clean exchange on his throws down to second. Got over the top of the ball and threw 80 mph down to second. Managed a 1.94 pop time. A right-handed hitter who has good bat speed and some strength in the hands. Starts with the hands set high and high back elbow. Was able to drive the ball well to the middle of the field during his round of BP. Shined on both sides of the ball all weekend. Excellent student. Florida Gulf Coast University commit.
