Evan Taveras is a 2024 C/1B with a 6-1 202 lb. frame from Fort Myers, FL who attends Canterbury of Fort Myers. Large, broad shouldered frame with lots of present strength proportioned well throughout build. Ran a 6.99 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, lower set up behind the plate, receives the ball out front and incorporates lower half well to work on top of throws and through the ball in release, easy arm and standout arm strength/carry down to second base, shows rhythm throughout actions and release and repeats them well, above average arm strength. Switch-hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow right-handed, easy juice and stays through the ball well, lots of carry and backspin off the barrel with consistent hard impact at the point of contact. Shows strength from the left side, developing consistency but ball jumps when squared, shows present bat speed. Very good student. Verbal commitment to Miami.
