Gerardo Cuevas is a 2020 RHP/IF with a 6-0 195 lb. frame from Southlake, TX who attends Southlake Carroll. Compact strong build. Compact arm action coming to a tight high 3/4's arm slot, hides the ball very well in back and hitters don't see it well out of his hand, has a quick arm, stays on line to the plate well with his lower half, has some energy at release but repeats his mechanics well and filled up the strike zone. Fastball topped out at 91 mph, maintained his velocity very well, curveball had power and tight downer spin and bite, was comfortable throwing his curveball to both right and left handed batters. Did not observe a change up but it is an obvious addition with his already present two-pitch mix and ability to throw strikes. Good student, verbal commitment to Houston.
