Rodney Pena is a 2024 RHP/3B/SS with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Paterson, NJ who attends Depaul Catholic. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and some present strength throughout. Ran a 7.45 60-yard dash. Right-handed pitcher, side step moving into delivery, leg lift up to belt and gets tall on backside, measured tempo throughout operation and quickens arm just prior to release. Fastball topped out at 90 mph with low spin rates, shows present arm speed and can quicken overall tempo for a more consistent release. Breaking ball up to 76 mph with upwards of 20 inches of horizontal break, flashes late bite to bottom of zone at times; flashed a changeup at 76 mph. Active footwork in the infield, smooth actions and shows athleticism in movements, lower effort release with solid carry and arm strength across. Right-handed hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Shows nice tools in the box with present bat speed, gets extended out front with a long swing path, creates some lift at point of contact. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
