Jaylen Paden is a 2020 RHP/SS with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Lilburn, GA who attends Decatur. Flashed a medium frame with stocky type build. Mature strength showing. Ran a 7.07 second sixty yard dash. Primary Righthanded pitcher starting square to the plate before working into a fast paced motion. Just over the belt high leg kick while coiled up and then explodes. Very fast arm with a compact arm action delivering from a three-quarter arm slot. Fluid motion with advanced mechanics showing he could pound his spots with any pitch. Hard to pick up early out of hand keeping hitters guessing getting ugly swings and misses. Fastball showed late life topping out at 91 mph being very heavy on the hands of righthanded hitters. Off-speed stuff consisted of a nasty changeup that showed late break with him feeling comfortable throwing it in any count. His slider showed sharp bite and would be his pitch that is still work in progress. Secondary Infielder waiting back on the baseball then works through it cleanly. Range showing with good feet underneath him at all times. Stays low while flicking it around the diamond. Righthanded hitter starting with a spread out stance and a closed off front side. Simple cuts with quiet hands. Uphill swing path looking to pull the baseball. Very projectable on the mound with a great feel for it. Outstanding Student.
