Montana Bates is a 2023 RHP/1B with a 6-4 160 lb. frame from Dover, TN who attends Stewart County. Tall and lean build with lots of room to fill in and get stronger. Multi-part delivery with lots of deception, compact arm in back hides the ball well, over the top arm slot with plenty of upper body lean, repeated his mechanics very well considering their complexity. Threw almost all fastballs, worked up to 75 mph and was very consistent working down at the bottom of the zone and to the glove side, created lots of soft contact. Tried a few change ups but no breaking balls. 7.66 runner in the sixty, plays first base on defense when not on the mound. Right handed hitter, tends to stride out on his swing but has good barrel control and stays on plane a long time, hit some balls hard to the opposite field when he got extended. Excellent student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
