2021 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Austin Lafferty is a 2023 OF/RHP, MIF with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Pittsburgh, PA who attends South Park. Athletic frame. Ran the 60 yard dash in 6.85 seconds. Primary outfielder, lets the ball come, had a tendency to let the ball come, slightly working through the ball. Displayed stiff hands, still working on smoother actions. Has a long arm action with a quick release, displayed firm accurate throws, was clocked up to 82 mph on throws from the outfield. From the mound, throws from a high three-quarter arm slot, threw a lot of strikes, commanded well, and attacked hitters early. The fastball sat 78-81 mph, generating a lot of late swings and swing and misses. Worked in a curveball that sat 63 mph with slight break. At the plate, hits from a balanced slightly open stance, has slight hand movement, loads back onto back leg. Showed strong hands with decent bat speed, has a opposite field approach. Flashed raw power to the middle of the field. Excellent student. Was named to the National Underclass Showcase Top Prospect List.
