Ryder Helfrick is a 2023 C/IF with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Discovery Bay, CA who attends Clayton Valley. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present physical strength proportioned nicely throughout frame. Ran a 6.77 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, starts on a knee in drills, arm strength is a weapon behind the plate, gets it out of glove cleanly, longer arm stroke through the backside, plus arm and carry to second, did an excellent job framing and receiving high octane stuff in live action. Right-handed hitter, begins with an upright and open stance with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; barrel tilt at start, utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing moving into contact. Holds coil well at start of swing, shows present bat speed through the zone and shows solid present power to pull side. Has some timing components to operation, ball jumps when squared, best contact to pull side. Excellent student. Verbal commitment to Arkansas. Named to the 2022 Perfect Game All-American Classic.
