Alexander Oppenheimer is a 2022 RHP/SS with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Westport, CT who attends Staples. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and some present strength to frame, additional room to fill moving forward. Ran a 7.50 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, deliberate tempo to delivery with leg lift up to belt, gets tall on backside, short and quick arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release point. Simple delivery and repeats, online stride down the mound, fastball comes out cleanly and topped out at 84 mph, mostly true in life and worked down well. Velocity comes easy, occasional running life and mixed an 11-5 shaped curveball with tight spin and nice depth to it. Mixed well and worked around the zone. Worked out both in the infield and outfield, graded best from infield; funnels into body and shows quickness to arm action with carry on throws across, long strides moving towards backhand, works on top of throws and shows accuracy across the diamond. Developing actions in the outfield, utilizes a short crow hop, shows looseness and athleticism. Righthanded hitter, begins with a spread stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a short leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Longer swing path with extension out front, creates leverage and shows bat speed through the zone. Works to the middle of field with comfort and shows a handle for the barrel, strength plays and repeats swing with line drive contact. Named to Fall Connecticut Top Prospect List. Good student.
