2005 Ohio Valley Top Prospect
Chris Walden is a 2006 RHP from Bellefontaine HS in Bellefontaine, OH, with a 6'4'', 195 lb. frame. He has a very athletic build and is very projectable physically. Walden throws from a balanced, calm delivery with a low to mid 3/4's release point. He has a very fast, loose arm and the ball jumps out of his hand on release. Walden topped out at 88 mph on his fastball and we've seen him in the low 90's in the past. He had two very advanced breaking pitches. His 72 mph curveball had 11/5 spin and very late, hard biting action. His slider was outstanding, with very good depth and hard spin. Both pitches can strike hitters out. Walden also had some quality on his change up. He's a national level top prospect with a very high ceiling once he begins to mature more physically. Walden is committed to Kentucky but is sure to get attention from the professional scouts this spring. He's a very good student off the field.
