Justin Bonito is a 2023 RHP/1B/OF with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Edison, NJ who attends J P Stevens. Recorded a 5.56 second forty-yard dash time. Medium, high waisted frame with some lean muscle throughout and room to add strength. Primary right-handed pitcher that worked from a simple, compact delivery with a slightly coiled leg lift into balance and good stride length down the slope. Fastball worked in the low-to-mid 70s for the majority of his outing and topped out at 75 mph from an over-the-top arm slot in this look. Strike thrower that works both sides of the plate effectively with his fastball and mixed in a promising 12-6 shaped curveball for strikes . Flashed developing changeup that is further along then the curveball at present, as it shows nice fade and replicated arm speed. Will continue to improve with additional velocity and continued refinement mechanically. Secondary first baseman with a developing defensive skill set. Uses anticipatory footwork into the fielding process, while fielding slightly deep and off to the side at times. Does have some agility around the bag and recorded online throws up to 77 mph across the diamond during drills. Left-handed hitter that hits from an even based stance with high hand set, high back elbow and small hover trigger. Displayed simple, repeatable stroke with good bat-to-ball skills and some line drive impact to the pullside. Stays short and direct with his barrel, while imploring a slightly downhill swing plane and flashed some power potential to the right centerfield gap when on-time. Solid, still developing overall prospect with plenty of physical projection remaining. Will continue to improve with proper adjustments mechanically and physical maturity. Excellent Student.
