Matt Casey is a 2022 3B/RHP/IF with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Alabaster, AL who attends Thompson. Long young athletic build with some present strength and lots of room to fill in and get stronger. 7.21 runner in the sixty. Primary third baseman on defense, has some first step lateral quickness and good balance and footwork moving to the ball, plays under control and with some confidence, arm works well and projects to keep improving with physical maturity. Right handed hitter, hits from an exaggerated open stance with a late close, tends to get rushed getting into his trigger position and can be late at times, hands are pretty short and quick to the ball, line drive swing plane with pull to mid-field contact, has the tools to continue to improve as a hitter with adjustments. Also pitched, works from a full windup with a big side step start, high 3/4's arm action, slow paced delivery. Fastball topped out at 83 mph with good arm side running life at times, also threw a curveball that flashed good depth when he was on top and out front with it. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
