Max Mentel is a 2023 RHP/1B with a 6-6 205 lb. frame from Creve Ceour, MO who attends Westminster Christian Academy. Extra-large, broad shouldered frame with present strength proportioned throughout frame, additional room to fill throughout. Right-handed hitter, begins with a higher leg lift up past belt, gets tall on backside, shorter stride coming down the mound and can length moving forward; short and tight arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release point, does create extension out front and able to generate life to the fastball down in the zone. Topped out at 88 mph, shows ability to work down to the glove side, some late effort at release, occasionally gets mistimed but worked mostly around the zone. Tends to slow arm action on curveball up to 74 mph with a lower slot at release; showed a nice changeup up to 78 mph and can mix it in more often into his arsenal, showed fading life down to arm side. Very good student.
