2007 National Showcase
Taylor Wrenn is a 2008 MIF with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from Lakeland, FL who attends Lakeland. He has a young build with some wiry strength and is getting stronger every time we see him. Wrenn had an excellent showcase in Cincinnati in all regards. His increased strength really stood out at the plate, where his bat speed has improved significantly. He has a very sound hitting approach, balanced and open with a well timed leg raise trigger and very quick hands. He hits through the ball with authority and stung line drives to all fields. Top level pitching doesn't appear to affect him at all, he stayed in rhythm and put good swings on good stuff. Defensively, Wrenn has smooth actions at second base and a good feel for defense. He gets rid of the ball quickly and is always in position. His arm strength isn't what you'd want in a shortstop but he could play the position at the next level. Wrenn is a 6.82 runner who plays the game quickly and with great energy. He's the son of long-time Florida area scout Luke Wrenn and has been raised in the game.
