Alex Shane is a 2022 OF/RHP with a 5-9 135 lb. frame from Los Angeles, CA who attends Harvard-Westlake HS. Compact frame with a lean build. Projects for additional strength with continued physical maturity. Primary outfielder with smooth paced, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions at pick up and maintained momentum to the bag while working through transition. Released from a high three-quarters slot produced some carry to the bag at 75 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, open stance and large leg lift trigger. Aggressively shifts into contact with linear lower half actions. Loose, extended hand path to contact with an uphill barrel plane through extension. Flashed developing feel for the barrel and looks to connect with baseball out front while employing a mid-field approach. Also pitched showing a simple rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Deep arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball produced occasional downhill tilt through the zone in the upper 60's to low 70's, topped at 72 miles per hour. Curveball had 12/6 shape with solid spin and good depth. Showed good feel for breaking ball and consistently located offering to the bottom of the zone. Excellent student as well.
