Alain Alonso is a 2023 LHP/OF with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Cutler Bay, FL who attends Immaculata-La Salle. Ran a 7.53 60-yard dash. A medium frame with some length in the lower half. A left-handed pitcher who throws from a higher three-quarters slot. Deliberate actions with a leg lift up around the belt. Showed off a whippy arm path. He showed a feel for the spin early on, getting a breaking ball to land for strikes, spinning it up to 2,326 RPMs in the upper-60s. The pitch had good 11-5 shape to it, getting whiffs and freezing left-handed hitters when he front-doored it. His fastball was commanded well with some arm-side run to it, getting a little bit of downhill plane to it at times. Worked 74-77 mph on the pitch and was up to 78 mph. He also showed a changeup in the mix with some fade to it. Mixed his pitches and was able to sequence well to change eye level. He's a left-handed hitter with a narrow base. Uses a slight leg lift trigger with the hands set high and back elbow out. Had a shorter and direct path, spraying contact all over the field throughout the round of BP with some good line drives to the middle of the field. In the outfield, Alonso charged the ball with some aggressiveness, fielding it off to the side, and using a crow-hop to get rid of it. Throws carried a bit with one-hop accuracy to third base, throwing 82 mph from the outfield. Showed off clean glove work defensively. Very good student.
