Matteo Sollecito is a 2019 RHP/3B with a 6-3 200 lb. frame from Jersey City, NJ who attends St. Peter's Preparatory. Extra-large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a long, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.23 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, quick side moving into delivery with nice tempo throughout, gets tall on backside and rubber gathers over the rubber before breaking into a full arm action which leads to an over-the-top release. Topped out at 80 mph and maintained well from stretch, gets on top of ball well and filled the strike zone; shows presence on the mound. Curveball offers 12-6 shape, slows arm action prior to release, generates nice spin up to 65 mph and will continue to develop a consistent release point on the pitch. Showed well at first base, sound footwork and athleticism to overall actions, pivots well on turn, fields the ball out front and gets on top of throws with arm strength and carry across the diamond. Also worked out in the infield, developing footwork moving to and through the ball, short steps moving towards the ball, fields out front and shows strength across diamond. Righthanded hitter, begin with a spread stance and utilizes a simple toe twist trigger for timing. Short shift moving into contact and starts with tight hand set close to body; upper body dominant swing with a short, direct path through the zone. Best contact to pull side when linear with swing plane. Named to Mid-Atlantic Underclass Top Prospect List. Very good student.
