Zachary Armstrong is a 2020 LHP/ with a 5-7 138 lb. frame from Chula Vista, CA who attends Mater Dei Catholic. Compact frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength with continued physical maturity. Primary left handed pitcher with a simple side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side with slight coil over back leg at gathers. Utilized tall and fall lower half actions while landing at a slightly closed position on front side. Medium arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed some running action to arm side with occasional downhill tilt in the mid to upper 60's, topped at 70 miles per hour. Also showed a curveball that had 1/7 shape with loose spin and some depth to the bottom of the strike zone. Consistently filled the bottom quadrant of the zone and worked to each edge of the plate with both pitches. Very good student as well.
