Matthew Hester is a 2019 RHP/1B with a 6-3 208 lb. frame from Myrtle Beach, SC who attends Socastee HS. Recorded an 8.03 second 60-yard dash time. Large frame with broad shoulders and present physicality. Primary righthanded pitcher with a short rocker step into a higher leg lift above the belt. Gathers well at the balance point and stays tall on the backside. Fluid motion and works with good rhythm and tempo. Works quickly and attacks the zone. Deceptive delivery with multiple moving parts but repeats well. Longer arm circle and throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot. Good line and direction toward the plate as he carries his weight downhill well. Good life on the fastball up to 82 mph and spots up well. Curveball has 10/5 action with some depth and sweep. Slider has similar action but with more sweep. Good feel for repertoire and can throw all for strikes. Secondary first baseman with solid arm speed and accuracy. Long and loose through the back with arm strength recorded up to 78 mph. Righthanded hitter with a high hand set and high back elbow. Slight arm bar and pulls the hands through well. Linear swing and can create carry on fly balls. Tremendous student.
