James Newsome is a 2021 RHP/1B, IF, OF, UT with a 6-6 195 lb. frame from Greensboro, NC who attends Northern Guilford. XL frame with long, lean build; highly-projectable physically. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.32 seconds. Primary righthanded pitcher, long offline arm stroke through the back, balanced through delivery, fastball worked 76-80 mph with good arm side life, worked in curveball with good bite, solid projection on the mound. Hits from slightly open stance, gets lower half involved well, hands work on slightly inside-out path, good strength, smooth stroke that impacts the ball when on time, significant power projection. Took defensive reps at first base, fields cleanly and turns well, clean arm stroke with good release, clocked up to 76 mph on throws. Very good student.
