Massanari was one of the best “hustlers” in Lincoln and we really appreciated his approach to the game. We also appreciated his bat and power potential on offense. Massanari has a good, quick trigger and a short cut, but really lets the bat fly. His swing plane has some uppercut to it and we think that Massanari will hit plenty of home runs in the future, especially if he takes the college route. We also like the fact that Massanari’s batting approach is solidly center-right centerfield oriented right now. Massanari’s best defensive tool behind the plate is his arm strength, which is a tick above average on the big league scale. His release was quick and short, similar to his swing, and he was consistently in the low 1.90’s with his pop times. Massanari struggled some receiving balls reaching across his body early but improved during the showcase as he become more comfortable with the upper level pitchers. Massanari looks mature physically, with well developed thighs and hips that make him look like a veteran catcher. Like most catchers, he doesn't run exceptionally well, but he does know what he's doing on the bases. In fact, he looks like he knows what he's doing at all things on a baseball field. Could be an outstanding catcher/hitter at the highest levels of college baseball. Bryce is an excellent student.
