Shane Hofstadler is a 2018 C/IF, OF, RHP with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Vista, CA who attends Rancho Buena Vista. Medium frame with a lean build and wiry strength. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.25 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a low, athletic stance while setting up to receive the baseball. Receives the baseball with two hands and works through transition with clean, smooth footwork. Fluid, efficient exchanges and generated good downhill carry to the bag from a compact arm slot. Topped at 73 miles per hour with a best workout pop time of 2.01. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing fundamentally sound footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling off to side and working through transfer. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Topped at 78 miles per hour flashing on line, accurate carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance. Lower half worked to contact with rotational actions. Loose, extended path to contact with a line drive plane through extension. Primarily utilized a mid-field approach and generated hard, line drive contact throughout batting practice. Projects for additional raw power with further implementation of lower half. Also pitched utilizing a smooth, balanced leg lift delivery. Drives to the plate well and lands at a slightly closed front side position. Compact take back and released from a low three-quarters arm slot. Fastball had some sink and run to arm side in the low to mid 70's, topped at 78 miles per hour. Curveball showed 11/5 shape with solid spin and good depth when staying on top of offering. Flashed ability to add and subtract with fastball offering producing very good sink when working in the lower velocity band. Consistently filled the strike zone and induced weak contact. Good student.
