2017 Sunshine Northeast Showcase
Andy Hood is a 2019 RHP/ with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Pasadena, MD who attends Northeast. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects for additional size with strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step delivery. Compact arm circle at separation and released from a three-quarters slot. Utilizes lower half while driving to the plate and carries momentum to first base side at finish. Gets on top of fastball offering well generating some downhill angle through the zone topping at 79 miles per hour. Also flashed some cutting action when taking some off of fastball offering. Showed good feel for a 12/6 curveball that had solid spin with depth. Also showed a deceptive arm action with a changeup that had some sinking action to glove side in the low 70's. Consistently pounded the strike zone with all pitches replicating arm speed and causing a lot of timing issues for hitter. Excellent student as well.
