Jake Brown is a 2018 OF/RHP with a 6-2 160 lb. frame from Hutchinson, KS who attends Buhler HS. Large frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.40 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder smooth, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling and creates good momentum into release. Smooth paced, clean exchanges while working through transition and created a long arm circle back at separation. Released from a three-quarters arm slot showing good arm strength with carry, topped at 86 miles per hour. Switch hitter with an upright, open stance and high back elbow set from each side of the plate. Stays on back side throughout with rotational lower half actions. Barrel comes through the zone on an uphill plane through extension. Primarily worked to the middle of the field but showed the hand and barrel skills to work to opposite field as well. Also pitched with a full over head delivery. Tends to created some drift while working to the plate and released from a compact, high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball has straight actions through the zone with some downhill life, topped at 79 miles per hour. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with a changeup offering in the upper 60's. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Outstanding student.
